01 The arc

One straight line, examiner to AI governance.

Cam’s career runs in one direction: examine the regulated businesses, audit the controls, manage the money, teach the rules, then build the systems that make compliance automatic. It began in state financial-regulation examination and government performance audit, then moved to the operator’s side — running post-award financial management for a city’s infrastructure, housing, and hazard-mitigation portfolios.

From there: an independent advisory practice serving federal grant recipients, and a national teaching post in federal grants management. Since 2025 the audit lens has turned into working software — governance-grade AI instruments that trace every conclusion to a citable authority, and an open protocol for human-governed, AI-operated organizations.

02 The practice

Four areas, one method.

The work spans four areas, and every one of them is the same discipline pointed at a different surface. In the federal grants lifecycle, that means pre-award through closeout under 2 CFR 200 — subrecipient monitoring, cost allowability, single-audit readiness, corrective action. In internal controls and audit readiness, it is control design and testing, risk assessment, and control-maturity work against GAGAS, the Green Book, and the IPPF.

Organizational design and training turns the same knowledge outward — curriculum development and national instruction in federal grants management, from analyst job aids to executive briefings. And AI-enabled modernization is where the method now lives: audit-defensible AI systems built the way an auditor tests controls — provenance, evaluation harnesses, and human-in-the-loop verification by design.

05 AI R&D

Applied research and development, on the record.

Since January 2026, Cam has run an applied-AI research program at GrytLabs Dynamics — building the accountability layer between human judgment and AI capability: tracking not just what happened, but who authorized it, why, and under what constraints. The program has produced an open specification for decision lineage (patent pending), a governance framework for AI-operated organizations, a research thesis with core results formally mechanized in Lean 4, and an AI-operated publication pipeline whose deposits are open-access and DOI-registered.
